Ads-b Round 2
Never got a clean report with my original Uavionix Echo set up. After working with their support folks it was decided to go with their hard wired serial multiplexer package that allowed me to hardware my transponder squawk code and my barometric altitude from my encoder. So more wiring was done, and I now have a clean report from the FAA, and everyone is happy.

Ads-b
I spent the coldest part of the winter removing my Navworx transceiver because of the AD affecting it. I installed a Uavionix Ads-b and a GRT gps system. I haven’t gotten a totally clean report yet, but the tech support folks have suggested a couple of changes to try. We’ll see if they pan out whenever the weather finally breaks around here.

7/2/12-Annual Condition Inspection
It's been a year since this beautiful machine first took flight-so now it gets torn apart for its yearly inspection and to fix a couple of issues. First, my second communication radio was not picking up broadcasts more than 10 miles from the airport-it should be more like 30 miles. So I installed a new antenna in the fuselage and I hope that takes care of my problem. Second when I fly down to Louisville to visit my son the controllers are always complaining that I have two transponders operating. I don't. But I do have one transponder and one ADS-B transceiver that could be confusing these folks. Up until now I never had a way to shut down the ADS-B transceiver because it was wired with the transponder, so I rewired the power to it and added its own circuit breaker-problem solved.
Eric and I made this wood platform so that I can lay on my back and work under the avionics panel without too many contortions!
The interior had to come out of the plane for the inspection and so that I could run the new wiring for the com antenna.

Jim Timosczyk, an Ann Arbor based IA, is helping me go over the engine area. Things like magneto timing and cylinder compression checks require specialized tools that I don't have.
Glad I only had to rewire some of this!

Flight w/Steve on beautiful March afternoon
Got out of school and took advantage of great March afternoon weather-a bit windy but it was blowing straight down the runway so lets go!
Preflight underway-hey is this important?
Fill 'er up-at only $5.80/gallon it makes flying almost economically viable-NOT!
She's a Looker!
Airport in sight.
Everything looking kosher!
Steve and Ed.

Christmas Eve-Where is the Snow?
We had a nice morning today and Rob was itching to go for a short flight so we did. Below are some pictures of our house and MIS speedway from the air. Sure wish we had some snow though!
Rob is safely back on terra firma.
Our house from 2500'.
Rob Redies PIC! Or at least he thinks he is after seeing "Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol".

10/1/11-The Trip Home
When I first got to Glasair I was very disappointed-the "to do" list that I left them with a couple of months ago had not been completed. So we went to work and with 4-5 people working on the plane we had everything pretty much buttoned up in a day and a half-except some avionics issues. So I flew the plane down to Aurora, Oregon where Pacific Coast Avionics is located. Within a day there they had me back into the air with the issues pretty much resolved. My flight back went something like this. KUAO to KCOE. KCOE to 6S3. 6S3 to KRAP. KRAP to KFRM. KFRM to KIKK. KIKK to KADG. I was lucky and had good weather all the way back, until the last day when the winds really picked up. The landing that I made at Adrian was not one of my best, but I had a close to 20 mph crosswind. NOT fun!
The plane after final paint-NICE!
You definitely want to fly in this stuff when you can see-those rocks look crazy hard!

9/19/11-More Paint
As you can see they have made good progress on the fuselage. They are supposed to have everything finished at the paint shop by this Wednesday. Then it takes a couple of days to get it back together. I'm flying out to Washington next Monday, the 26th and by Tuesday, depending on weather, I should be able to get in a couple of test flights to verify everything is ready to go. Then its back to Michigan in the next couple of days-(again depending on weather).
